Before we went away on our last week trip we made a minor renovation on the exterior of our sauna building. It’s right on the shore next to our landing-stage. In the days when there were a little village store in our house it used to work as a warehouse. Now half of it is our beach sauna and the upper part of the building still works as storage.
The old paint was flaking and it was about time to paint it red again (see second picture below). At the same time we painted some wooden details white and added a fence by the door to the sauna. The lower surface of the roof above the sauna terrace was also covered with white boards. The before picture is taken many years ago, but it has looked the same for the past ten years. All new pictures taken with Iphone 4s.
We scraped all walls before painting them. The picture above tells more than thousand words about how much the walls needed a fresh coat of paint.
It’s not all done yet, but I’m quite satisfied with the final result. Now we have one less thing that “needs to be done“. If there’s something I’ve learned as a house owner it is that there are always things that have to be or need to be done. Preferably more or less right away. This was one thing off the list and now we can enjoying our sauna baths even more.
